“HVAD ER ARBEJDE?”

Udstillingens titel er en hilsen til kapitallogiker og SABAE-medlem Gustav Bunzel, der ofte stillede spørgsmålet “Hvad er arbejde?”, vistnok uden nogensinde at få et tilfredsstillende svar. Han argumenterede for, at arbejdsbegrebet både var langt mere uklart og desuden langt mere virkningsfuldt end eksempelvis Gudsbegrebet.

Ligesom Gud eller Godot synes arbejdsbegrebet i dag at findes allevegne og ingen steder. Imens automatiseringen af arbejdsprocesserne breder sig, opfordres borgerne til at arbejde mere.

Coronatidens eksperimenter med Zoom- og Teams-medieret produktion har løsrevet arbejdet fra tid og rum i en grad, hvor det ikke længere kun er kunstnerne, der er forvirrede: Hjemmearbejdet hersker! Til gengæld viser statistikker, at de (kunstnere), der arbejder mest, også er dem, der tjener mindst. Stadigt flere fagfelter må leve med forskellige og ofte modstridende definitioner af det immaterielle arbejde. Ligesom mange praksisformer åbner sig for det hårde arbejde, der kan lægges i at ligne én, der ikke arbejder for meget (non-productive attitude), som et alternativ til pseudo-arbejde!

Arbejdet findes også i Sydhavnen i Aarhus, hvor KH7 har til huse. Det har længe været forankret i havnen, men nye brydninger sker med de gennemgribende forandringer, der præger Sydhavnsområdet i disse år. Udover anlægsarbejdet, som i sig selv er kolossalt, findes arbejdet i forskellige former, der tegner en morfologi over gentrificeringen: industriarbejde, kunstnerisk arbejde og åbent kontorlandskab.
